Remove Audio from Video
Get a silent copy of a video with every audio track removed, without re-encoding and without uploading the file.

The video is processed on this device and never uploaded.
MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP, TS / MTS / M2TS or VOB / MPG
Files over 1 GB can be slow. Very large outputs need a browser that can save straight to a file.
How it works
The tool copies the video stream into a new file and leaves every audio track out. Nothing is re-encoded, so the picture is exactly the original and the run is quick, although the whole file is still read and written.
Afterwards it opens the new file and checks that it really contains no audio stream, so you know the sound is gone rather than just turned down. Everything happens in your browser; the video is never uploaded.
Supported files
- Inputs
- MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM and MKV. Other formats the converter reads, such as AVI and 3GP, are copied into MP4 when their video codec fits.
- Outputs
- The same container as the input (MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV), with the original video stream and no audio.
Limitations
- The video is copied as it is, so it cannot be resized or compressed here; use the converter for that.
- Subtitle and data tracks are dropped as well. The result lists every track that is not in the output.
- If the video codec cannot be stored in the output container without re-encoding, the copy fails with an explanation.
- Very large outputs need a browser that can save straight to a file (desktop Chrome or Edge).
Questions
Does removing the audio reduce video quality?
Is the sound really gone, or just muted?
Will the file get smaller?
Is my video uploaded?
Example
A 2-minute screen recording (MP4, 85 MB) picked up keyboard noise. After Remove audio, the new MP4 has the same H.264 video, no audio track, and is a few MB smaller. The result says "Audio track removed (verified)".
