MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP, TS / MTS / M2TS or VOB / MPG

Files over 1 GB can be slow. Very large outputs need a browser that can save straight to a file.

How it works

Choose a video, pick the output format and any changes (resolution, crop, trim, watermark, no audio), then convert. The page does the work in your browser, so the video is never uploaded and there is no queue or upload wait.

Most conversions use your browser's built-in WebCodecs encoders through Mediabunny, which are fast. When the browser cannot read or write a format, the converter switches to FFmpeg.wasm, a version of FFmpeg that runs in the page. It reads almost anything but is much slower. Older files such as AVI, WMV or DVD VOB are first repacked or decoded with FFmpeg, then finished with WebCodecs.

The engine for each file is shown before you start. The supported formats page lists every container and codec and which engine handles it.

Supported files

Inputs
MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI, WMV, FLV, 3GP, MPEG-TS (TS, MTS, M2TS) and MPEG-PS (VOB, MPG), including iPhone, Android and camera recordings.
Outputs
MP4, WebM, MOV, MKV, AVI or animated GIF, with H.264, H.265 (HEVC), VP8, VP9 or AV1 video and AAC, MP3, Opus or Vorbis audio, or no audio.

Limitations

  • VP9, AV1 and H.265 output need the browser's own WebCodecs encoder. When it is missing the converter says so and suggests a codec that works.
  • FFmpeg.wasm, used for formats the browser cannot handle and for AVI and GIF output, is single-threaded and much slower than WebCodecs.
  • Outputs are kept in memory until you download them, so this page refuses results larger than about 512 MB. Compress Video and the other tool pages can save larger files straight to disk in desktop Chrome or Edge.

Questions

How do I convert MOV to MP4?

Choose the MOV file, leave the output format on MP4 and press Convert. An iPhone MOV that will not play anywhere is usually HEVC; the HEVC to MP4 tool explains why and can often copy it into MP4 without re-encoding.

How do I convert MKV, AVI or WMV to MP4?

The same way: choose the file and convert to MP4. Containers the browser cannot read are repacked with FFmpeg first, and video codecs it cannot decode (WMV, MPEG-2, older DivX and Xvid) are decoded with FFmpeg, so these take longer than an MP4 or MOV.

Can I make a video smaller?

Lower the resolution or the quality here, or use Compress Video to aim for an exact size such as 10 MB, 16 MB for WhatsApp or 20 MB for Discord.

Is it really free, and are my videos uploaded?

It is free, with no ads, no account and no watermark added to the output. Videos are processed on your device and never uploaded; the page only downloads its own code and engine files.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in a current mobile browser. Phones have less memory, so files above 1 GB can be slow or fail.

Can I convert several videos at once?

Yes. Turn on batch processing in the Batch tab to convert up to 10 files, one after another, with the same settings.
